About LTGVV

About LTGVV

The Gene Therapy and Viral Vectors Laboratory (LTGVV) was founded in 2021 at the Carlos Chagas Filho Biophysics Institute (IBCCF) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Our research focuses on developing and applying recombinant adeno-associated virus (rAAV) vectors and on the use of exogenous mitochondrial transplantation as therapeutic tools. We combine cutting-edge molecular engineering with gene editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9 to modulate gene expression and investigate cellular mechanisms associated with neurodegenerative diseases, particularly glaucoma.
